Fall decorating- warm cozy and all the feels without losing your unique style. Fall decorating doesn’t automatically have to mean rustic knotty wood and scarecrows. Keep reading to learn some fun, fresh ways to make your home an amazing seasonal hideout while embracing your style.
Embrace Your Favorite Colors
Gone are the days of HAVING to flood your house with yellow, orange and red. Which is great for me, because I am not a huge fan of really bright warm tones. Pastels and cool gemstone colors are very popular now and will put a beautiful fresh spin on tradition fall themes like leaves, pumpkins, etc. My magenta leaf print is a great example of using leaves, that you would expect for fall, then putting a unique spin on things using a cool color like magenta for a fun surprise.
Use Abstract Shapes
Silhouettes, abstract leaf shapes, etc give you a chance to enjoy the season without having a creepy jack-o-lantern staring you down every day. This tip can be used for a variety of styles, from bold solid typography to more whimsical soft leaf prints and more. I don’t paint traditional abstract, but my style of abstracting a scene by cropping it very tight (as seen in the peony painting above) can give you an idea of what a beautiful abstract will do for your decorating!
Use the modern Rustic Farmhouse look
You don’t have to go all out cabin to enjoy some rustic touches to your home. Even if it’s not your everyday style, use the popular farmhouse look to your advantage and cherry-pick some beautiful pieces to add to your décor. A grey weathered wood frame with a bold modern print would look beautiful by your coffee bar. A slice of a wood log would make a great contrast for a simple clean houseplant pot. If you have a fairly neutral everyday style, you can enjoy the flexibility of adding in different styles for different seasons.
Go Big
Keep it clean, fresh, and bold by making one large statement with a BIG piece of art! Not only is it beautiful, it’s easy because you’ll make fewer purchases and have less to worry about whether or not they compliment each other. It doesn’t have to be expensive either. My triple wall art prints like the sunflowers above are an affordable way to fill a space with a cohesive, fun piece of art.
